Tabulae (Iceberg)

Location

Ross Sea of the Southern Oceans

Date

Description

Recent news of the giant crack in the Larsen C ice shelf is yet more distressing confirmation of what global warming is doing to our planet. Very shortly an iceberg the size of Delaware (about 6500 square kilometres) will break away from Antarctica and float into the Southern Ocean. The more devastating long-term effect of this event will be that it will likely hasten the demise of the glacial ice still on land behind the shelves.
