Cave Salamander
Eurycea lucifuga

Location

St. Louis, MO, USA

Date

11/10/2020

Description

I dreamed of seeing this species for many years. I stopped briefly on a rainy night waiting to pick up my older brother from a delayed flight on the way to the youngest brother's wedding. Cave salamanders are insectivorous amphibians. They lay eggs, which hatch into larvae before morphing into their adult form.
